Students have settled into their new classes and spent the first few days getting to know one another and sharing their vacation stories. They also made Essential Agreements that govern their behaviour at school and revisited the Learner Profile Attributes. Tuning into the new unit- Natural Resources was done through an activity wherein the students observed the different resources which were followed by a classroom discussion. Using the Venn diagram, students sorted several things they see around them into natural and man-made. Going further students developed their social and thinking skills through an activity wherein they worked in groups and arranged the given pictures into natural and man-made. Students also gained knowledge about renewable and non-renewable resources through various activities and shared their understanding with their peers. Students revisited some previously covered concepts and attempted simple task sheet. Students worked in groups and participated in an interesting activity wherein they choose their favourite sport and wrote down the related nouns with that sport. Later a group presentation was given by each team. Going further, students gained knowledge on common and proper nouns through more interactive activities. Students also attempted the Spell Bee. During their Math classes, students attempted a looping back work sheet to revisit some familiar concepts. A discussion was conducted on the importance of numbers and how numbers are required everywhere. Students have started practicing writing numbers from 1-999 and seem very enthusiastic while doing so. They also have begun writing number names in their process journals. During their Hindi classes, the students revisited 'maatraas' through different activities. They also wrote words related to the same. They enjoyed reciting a poem and wrote new words from the same.
During their ICT classes, students had a discussion on their holiday homework, regarding the apps and devices they used. They were also introduced to Google Maps and tried to locate places they visited during summer vacation. They renewed their essential agreement in collaboration with others. They were also introduced to digital poster making in integration with their unit. Dance lessons saw the students practice the same number with different speed of music in order to improve speed and clarity of movements. For Music lessons the students sang songs they learned previously and demonstrated their musical talents through vocals and instrumental individually, they were initiated into singing the vocal warm ups. Through these exercises, they understood about voice modulation and melody. The students then practiced a patriotic song for Independence day. They performed the same in a group, understanding better about group singing and also acquired knowledge about the breathing techniques required for singing together. During their P.E classes, the students participated in fitness circuit wherein they practiced short sprints, hurdles jumps and agility ladder.
